How we help leaders to deliver services across Wales
Practice Solutions is passionate about supporting leaders in social care across Wales. This is why we were honoured to sponsor the Inspirational Leadership award at this year’s Social Care Wales Accolades.
We see the achievements of social care leaders every day, from delivering effective and compassionate services to providing better conditions for their workforce. It’s difficult but vital work for our communities.
Here’s five ways Practice Solutions has been supporting social care leaders in Wales:
1. National Social Care Conference
The National Social Care Conference (NSCC) is the foremost showcase and networking opportunity for people working in social care in Wales.
This annual event brings senior and aspiring social care leaders together with decisionmakers in local and national government, the private and third sectors, and social work and social care students.
We produce NSCC with the Association of Directors of Social Services Cymru (ADSS Cymru), giving leaders the space and time to make connections, share best practice, and strategise collectively.
2. NSCC Network
The NSCC Network is a transformative space that brings the social care community closer together.
The Network brings together social care leaders across public, third and private sectors through events, newsletters and networking. It expands the collaborative and innovative ethos of the conference across the entire year.
The Network was founded to ensure leaders have access to fresh perspectives and ideas, all while contributing to transformative change.
3. Wales Mental Health and Wellbeing Forum
The Wales Mental Health and Wellbeing Forum was established by the Welsh Government, bringing together people lived experience of mental health to influence decision making.
For several years, Practice Solutions has supported the Forum through a co-production model. We facilitate the members to use their experience and passion to enact real change in the way mental health services are delivered.
We’re proud to help members become leaders in health and social care in Wales. The Forum will be publishing guidance on co-production later this year, which is supported by Welsh Government and recommended to be adopted across Welsh services.
4. Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan
The Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan was commissioned by the Welsh Government to commit to making Wales an anti-racist nation by 2030.
We have been working with ADSS Cymru ensure that people from global majority backgrounds do not experience barriers to employment or receiving services in social care. Following extensive surveys and research, three reports have been published.
We are now directly supporting social care leaders to implement the recommendations of these reports, giving them the data, structures and confidence to ensure they meet the new requirements.
5. Developing Healthy Organisations
Our Developing Healthy Organisations programme provides a series of workshops which empower leaders with key insights and practical tools to create transformational change.
We understand the range of issues facing social care leaders in Wales today. Our programme includes a range of topics including improving organisational resilience, navigating a communication crisis, and developing leadership skills.
Our bespoke DHO workshops have already been used in Welsh local authorities, giving their teams the means to better tackle their more complex challenges.
The Social Care Wales Accolades were held on Thursday 1 May at the Holland House Hotel Cardiff. The nominees for the Inspirational Leadership award were Avril Bracey (Carmarthenshire County Council), Ffion Cole (Bridgend County Council) and Kerri Warren (Neath Port Talbot County Council), with Avril Bracey announced as the winner.
