Bringing care records to life with AI
On Friday 23 January 2026, Practice Solutions hosted our second Innovation Hour with PredicAire, welcoming the team to share their AI-powered care management platform. Following a successful pilot with ADSS Cymru in South Wales, the session brought together people working across adult social care, and particularly residential care, to explore practical ways to improve quality, efficiency and resident wellbeing.
The session focused on lived experience: what changes when a service moves from paper-based systems to a digital approach, and how better use of data can support safer, more person-centred care.

From paper-based processes to live, accessible records
Joanne Price (pictured right) shared her experience of implementing PredicAire at a care home, describing the challenges of a paper-based system, which include fragmented information, multiple handovers, and documentation spread across different rooms and folders. Staff spent significant time writing notes, while information quickly became outdated.
Moving to a digital system helped address these issues. Records are now updated at the point of care, making information live and accessible in real time. As Joanne explained, this has freed up staff time to spend with residents and reduced the pressure of documentation taking priority over people.
Crucially, the transition was smoother than expected. Even staff who were initially nervous, some with decades of experience and limited confidence using digital tools, adapted well with the right training and ongoing support. Providing staff with dedicated devices helped embed the system into everyday practice rather than treating it as an additional task.

Better communication and inspection confidence
Having information in one place has strengthened communication within the home and with external professionals, supporting continuity of care. Joanne also highlighted the benefits for agency and relief staff, who can quickly access key information when joining unfamiliar shifts.
This care home’s experience of inspection provided further reassurance. Within six months of implementation, inspectors praised improvements to care planning, and previous compliance requirements were removed, demonstrating how stronger systems can directly support quality and confidence.
Why we run Innovation Hours
Innovation Hours create space for shared learning and collaboration across the public, private and third sectors. They bring together people working on real challenges in social care (and beyond), offering opportunities to hear what’s working in practice, ask honest questions and build connections that support better outcomes.
Thank you to Joanne Price for sharing such open insights and to Vinay Patel and the PredicAire team for the demonstration and discussion.
If your organisation is developing an idea, tool or approach that could support better outcomes in social care and the wider public sector, and you’d like to collaborate on a future Innovation Hour, we’d love to hear from you.
