Feasibility study on a national fee methodology for older people in residential care
Practice Solutions was commissioned by the National Office of Care and Support, part of Welsh Government, to produce an independent report looking at current practice and options for setting care home fees.
This vital work comes as statuatory agencies are struggling to meet need for nursing care in the face of increasing numbers of older people in Wales, accompanied with increases in complexity of need among those coming into residential care, and a range of sufficiency in local markets.
Our work involved extensive engagement with a range of stakeholders, including local health board and local authority commissioners, a range of national agencies, provider representatives and academic partners. Engagement took the form of structured interviews and online surveys, speaking with more than 60 stakeholder organisations.
